Model beauties will soon get their chance to strut their stuff on the glamorous Cannes Fashion Festival catwalk, as the show announces it has appointed one of the industry’s top model scouts.
Fashion pro Carolien ter Linden is a former fashion model who has walked for designers in London, Milan, Paris and New York. As the head scout for Cannes Fashion Festival, she will scout 100 models to star in the inaugural festival which takes place 20-22 May 2015.
In addition to applauding excellence in design, the Cannes Fashion Festival will emphasise the important role of models and muses during the three day event and their contribution to the high glamour, fast paced spectacles that play out under the glare of flashbulbs, bloggers, editors and influencers from around the globe. The 80 female and 20 male models handpicked by Carolien ter Linden will become the Cannes Fashion Festivals 100 diamonds.
Rose Marie Perez, organizer of Cannes Fashion Festival says “There is no fashion show without fashion designers and models so we are also keen to focus on the importance of the model role during a fashion show or fashion week. We named them “the 100 diamonds” of Cannes Fashion Festival, because diamonds have high value. I chose Caroline to scout the models for the first ever Festival because she is an experienced model and knows very well what designers expect. She will make the first selection. The last word will be of course for the designers.”
Carolien started her career as professional bridal and fashion model and is the muse of popular Dutch fashion designer Addy van den Krommenacker. She is also a familiar face during the Cannes Fashion Festival and has worked as a model, red carpet and event organizer for the last four years. She received the 2011 Amsterdam Fashion Award in recognition of her experience and contribution to fashion in her homeland. Her company Passarella Moda scouts, coaches and represents models, working with high profile companies around the world. Carolien is also one of the judges of the yearly Dutch Model Event and International Miss competitions.
Speaking about her appointment as the official Cannes Fashion Festival model scout she said, “I am so excited and so honored! This is a prestigious event where luxury fashion brands, models, actors, actresses and celebrities will be mixing together. All this happens during the most worldwide famous Cannes Film Festival! This is THE most glamorous place to be. And this year, Cannes Fashion Festival is giving fashion the opportunity to shine by itself.”
Each of the 100 models selected by the scout will be placed on the Cannes Fashion Festival website in a password protected area. Participating fashion designers can then log in and select the models they want for their shows.
The Cannes Fashion Festival will reveal its lineup of participating designers at the end of February, following the final major Fashion Week AW15 show.
