Interview With Mawra Hocane

Mawra Hocane is a Pakistani actress who has worked in numerous Pakistani dramas and telefilms. She has also worked in one Bollywood Sanam Teri Kasam opposite Harshvardan Rane. This was Hocane’s first movie. It was not a big success but it gave Hocane international exposure.

Mawra Hocane is an exceptional actress and was in London to promote her second film, Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2 which is a Pakistani film.

Dressed in a Royal Blue silk dress by The Minimalistic Boutique and Valentino heels, Mawra looked ravishing.

Question: Tell us Briefly about your role in the film.
Answer: I play Zoe, as you can see (points at the JPNA2 banner behind us), she is very fashionable, rich sassy girl and spoiled. What’s special about her is her love story with Fahad, his character in the film and the way their love story unfolds. Other than us there is another love story with Kubra and Hamayun ’s character. So there are two love stories with their own complications, twists and turns. And yes you’ll see Zoe sometimes as just another girl in love and sometimes the brat she is.

Question: You’ve also worked in a Bollywood film before, what difference do you see in Pakistani filmmaking and Indian filmmaking.
Answer:   I think it’s a huge difference, on a scale that Bollywood works Huge and we are new in the industry, but I think they’ve had a lot of years on them to build that. They worked very hard, and I hope we do that too so, 70 years from now and we can also stand up and you know If I’m alive, I can stand up and say oh! look at the industry we’ve found, yeah it’s that.

Question: What are your thoughts on the revival of Pakistani Cinema? Answer: It’s in very initial stages, but I think the good part is that everybody is very enthusiastic about building it. We are ready to build it together, we are ready to give it certain things that’ll add into the luxuries just to work together and make things work. I think excitement and enthusiasm are there. Hopefully, we are on the right track, as long as we’re headed forward, we are okay.

Question: Any Future projects that you would like to talk about?

Answer:  Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 is still in the future. We’ll see on Eid ul Azha what we’ve done. But simultaneously I’ve been shooting Angan which is a pre-partition project for Hum TV.  That’s probably going to be the biggest drama Hum TV has ever produced, so there is a lot of pressure there. Angan is based on a novel and we have to like deliver more than what people have already read. So yes, I am looking forward to Angan and Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2. Then I’m looking forward to a little break because I’ve been shooting these two projects simultaneously since last October (2017). It’s been merely a year since I’ve just been going mad with these two projects and my degree.

Question: In the end, do you have any message for your fans and audiences?
Answer: I just want to thank them because I am very very grateful to them for all the love that they’ve always shown me even at times when I really didn’t deserve it. So yes, Thank you and I hope that I always deserve your love.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 is slated to release this Eid-ul-Azha22nd August 2018.
