Pedicure: How To Do It Yourself

pedicure

Pedicure is very important for clean and healthy looking feet.  As they say, feet carry the most heavy thing in the world and is your body. Its important to take care of your feet to avoid cracked heals and rough skin. A lovely massage in the end of a pedicure is also important for comfort and relaxation.

Here’s a very easy way of doing your own pedicure (and manicure) that will last for the whole of winter. It will take just 30 minutes of your time with things straight from your kitchen.

You will need:

1 tub
4 table spoons of salt
1/2 cup vinegar (any)
1/2 cup oil (any that’s available in your house, it can even be vegetable oil)
Juice of 1 lemon – any size
1 table spoon Shampoo
1 table spoon Hair Conditioner
Towel
Pumice stone
Cuticle cutter
Nail filer
Scrub
Foot cream, lotion or moisturiser (whatever is available)
Vasaline
Socks

Put shampoo and conditioner in the tub. Fill it with hot water. The water should not be burning hot but must be hot enough to tingle your feet. Make foam in the tub by shaking your hand in the water.

Add salt, vinegar, oil and lemon juice and mix with your hand. Put your feet in the water, sit back and relax. Read your favourite book or magazine. For safety do not use any gadgets like mobile phone or tablets or ipods.

After 20 minutes, clean your feet thoroughly with a pumice stone. Pat dry with a towel.

Apply scrub and massage thoroughly. File your nails and cut the cuticles with a cuticle cutter. Then apply foot cream, lotion or moisturiser and massage thoroughly. In the end apply vasaline and massage, concentrating more on the problematic areas and then wear socks.

If your feet need more care then double the amount of salt. If lemon is not available, you may leave it out. It is also not necessary to file your nails or cut the cuticles but make sure you clean them properly. In the end apply base coat, nail polish of your choice and then top coat.

Above all make sure your skin is not allergic to any of the ingredients.
