You need a weekend to yourself every now and then. If you don’t, how are you going to relax and burn off the stressors of the month? And sometimes you build up a bit of a debt to yourself; if you haven’t relaxed and take some time for yourself in a while, you’re going to feel it in your bones, muscles, and your mind.

However, relaxing can be expensive. If you’re going to buy bath soaks and face masks in bulk, you’re going to fork out a pretty penny! If money is one of your main stressors at the moment, this won’t do – you need some low cost alternatives instead.

Borrow Some Romance Books From the Library

Or horror books, if that’s more what you’re into! But most people like to dig into cheesy romances in order to relax of a weekend. If you’re on a low budget right now and can’t afford some new paperbacks, make sure you hit the library during the week instead.

If the library doesn’t have the books you’re after, ask at the desk. They’ll be able to order the copies in for you to pick up later. You should also be able to download audiobooks from them; they may even have their own app that’s free to use. No more paying for premium audio services here either!

Don’t Pay for a Streaming Subscription

A streaming subscription can be a total waste of money if you’re not glued to the screen for at least two weeks out of the month. So, don’t pay for one! Instead, look up free netflix alternatives (and yes, they do exist!) and use them instead.

You may have to cope with a few ads here and there but if it’s saving you money, it’s worth it. This way you can watch some fun new shows and tune out the rest of the world through them, and you also don’t ever have to touch your bank account for the privilege.

Cook Your Own Takeaway

We know cooking over the weekend is a bit of a chore, but if you want to save money as well as eat something yummy, you’re going to have to bite the bullet here. You should be able to find mock up recipes of your takeaway favourites online – all you need to do now is get the ingredients in and throw them all together. The total cost of those is going to be at least half the price of ordering out, especially when you count the service and delivery fee on top!

Listen to Meditation Tutorials on Youtube

Youtube is free to use, especially if you have an adblocker on your browser. As such, you’ll be able to find a wealth of free meditation tutorials to use in your own time when you need to take some deep breaths. If you’re a fan of yoga or ASMR, this is also the place to head!

Need to relax? Do it better on a budget!
