Choose A Good Base

One thing that you’ll need to know right away when it comes to accessorising is that you must have a good base to begin with. This means your outfit. Although you might be keen to showcase a lot of colours or styles in your fashion, if you want to accessorize, you’ll need to be careful. It’s actually much better to have a plainer, more neutral base as an outfit so that you can let your accessories shine and allow yourself a lot more choice.

Start With Jewellery

There are different types of accessories, including bags, shoes, and scarves, and although these can all be important, it’s often best to start with your jewellery, and you can build everything up from there.

The right jewellery can truly elevate any outfit, which is why it’s important to get it right. Think about what you like best. These could be delicate pieces or bold statement pieces, they could be earrings, necklaces, brooches, or rings, or perhaps you have other piercings and like to use them to accessorize your outfit.

Don’t forget you can experiment with layering jewellery to give you a different and beautiful look, and this works particularly well with necklaces.

Shoes

Once you have determined what jewellery you want to wear and how much of it, you can think about your shoes. Remember that the shoes you wear can change an outfit entirely; trainers can make something look a lot more casual, but wear heels and the same outfit becomes something ideal for wowing people at a club or party.

It makes sense in that case to consider the event you’re going to and choose shoes that will match the situation. Most times, you’ll find that the right shoes make everything else you’re wearing work exactly as you want it.

One thing to note, however, is comfort. You’ll need to be comfortable in the shoes you’re wearing, as it won’t matter how gorgeous a pair is if you can’t actually walk in them.

Bags

Not everyone wants to take a bag around with them, and if you are out during the day and have a jacket or trousers with pockets, it may not be necessary. However, a bag to go with evening wear is essential – you’ll need somewhere to put your phone, keys, purse, and so on – not to mention the fact that you might enjoy accessorising with bags best; it can be a lot of fun, after all.

The size of the bag is something you’ll really need to think about over and above everything else. Too big, and it won’t look formal enough for an evening out. Too small, and it won’t be practical. Therefore, it’s good to try a few different bags to see what’s going to work before committing to any style.
